Baltimore Home Inspections

Banks and other lending institutions will tell you to get a “Home Inspection” when you buy a house. They want to be assured their financial investment is a sound one. They want to make sure the property is worth what they are lending against it and doesn’t need thousands of dollars in repairs, which will make the true cost of the house more than it is really worth. Even though most, if not all, states mandate that the contract have a property discloser that declares the material facts about the physical condition of the house, the truth is these are not always accurate and honest. The purpose of a Home Inspection in Baltimore is to have a neutral 3rd party who has nothing to gain or lose from the sale of the house to inspect the house. That way you can have an unbiased opinion as to the true condition of the house. For more information see our page on Baltimore Home Inspections

Mold Testing

Even the Environmental Protection Agency states that mold in a house is more dangerous than you think and it can make you sick. Over 40% of all houses have Mold or Sick Building Syndrome. It is a known fact that the FHA and VA will soon mandate that any person using the government’s money to buy a house will have to have a Mold Test. Mold Testing is not part of a Baltimore Home Inspection at this time, but don’t you think you should add it to yours? For more information, see our page on Mold.

Radon Testing

Radon Gas is the 2nd largest cause of Lung Cancer in the world today. Radon gas is the aftereffect of the deterioration of uranium under the earth’s surface. The gas passes up through the earth and into buildings through tiny hairline cracks in the foundation. Radon effects are long term and don’t show up till many years later when the cancer is already too late to treat. For more information, see our page on Radon.

Lead Base Paint Testing

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 1978 there were 13.5 million children in the United States with elevated blood lead levels (i.e., 10 (micro)g/dl). For more information see our page on Lead Base Paint.

Water Testing

The law mandates that public water be tested and treated on a regular basis at the water treatment plant in your area and that it only covers the condition of the water up to the time it leaves the treatment plant. In many areas of Maryland there is no public water available and water sources come from an underground well. This source of water can contain Radon and Bacteria along with other contaminates. It is recommended you should have your water tested annually. For more information see our page on Water Testing.

Allergen Testing

Allergens can cause allergies. The key to managing allergies that are caused by indoor allergens involves reducing your level of exposure to them or avoiding them, if at all possible. If you are buying or renting a new home and you or a loved one has allergies, or if you are already living in a home where your allergies are really bad, you might want to test to see what is going on. For more information, see our page on Allergens.

Bacteria Testing

While infections/bacteria can thrive almost anywhere and do, your own home has plenty of places were bacteria can roost. Some Top Spots for Bacteria in the home include Kids’ Toys, Kitchen Tabletop, Telephones, Cell Phones and your Computer Keyboard, to name a few. For more information, see our page on Bacteria.

Healthy Home Inspections

You spend more time in your home than you do anywhere else. Your home is a safe haven from the world. We relax and sleep at home, and some of us even work at home. Even though we keep our homes clean, there are still many things in our home that can make us sick and we don’t even realize it. The EPA will tell you 40 % of the houses in the United States have what is known as “Sick Building Syndrome”. Is your home making you sick??? For more information, see our page on Baltimore Healthy Home Testing.

Getting a Home Health Report on Your Home

When people buy a home, they research nearby schools, crime rates, and average property values. So what about potential environmental risk that could affect you and your family’s health? Up until now, homeowners and people considering buying and selling a home didn’t really have any options. For more information, see our page on Home Environmental Report.
